Episode 4
Repurposed Rising Coming Back to Yourself - Michelle Taylor
I present Repurposed Rising by Michelle Taylor, a guided healing and self-reflection journal created to help women come back to themselves through inner child work and the repurposing of past pain. I explain that the book uses prompts, affirmations, quotes, and structured exercises to guide readers through recognizing, addressing, releasing, and forgiving emotional wounds. I note that the material is drawn from Michelle’s own healing journey and that the journal is intended to be a safe space for honest reflection. I describe Michelle’s supporting work, including clarity and intention workshops, vision board sessions, coaching, and speaking engagements. I inform listeners that the book is available on Amazon and that Michelle can be reached via Repurposed Rising on social media, by phone at 410-499-3760, or by email. I urge readers to move through the work one step at a time, to be honest with themselves, and to give themselves grace. I present Repurposed Rising as a guided healing and self-reflection journal authored from my lived experience. I wrote this work for women who have carried burdens while appearing to function, for those who have shown up despite exhaustion and self-doubt. I state plainly that the book is not a memoir but a deliberate tool created from my heart, mind, and soul. The journal instructs the reader to move with care, to breathe, and to meet the inner child with gentleness. I emphasize that the reader is not broken and that healing commences through honest awareness and steady practice. I describe a defined four-part healing framework that undergirds the journal: recognize, address, release, and forgive. I guide readers through prompts that recover early memories of feeling unseen and trace how unresolved inner wounds shape present relationships and decisions. I provide concrete features—affirmations, quotes, closing sections, and daily reflections—that reinforce sustained change. The tone throughout is sober and resolute. I invite readers to show up without pretense, to be patient, and to observe patterns without self-reproach, because awareness is the first substantive step toward reclamation.
Takeaways:
- I wrote Repurposed Rising as a guided journal to help women reconnect with themselves.

I'm your host, Rich Bennett, and today's guest is Michelle Taylor, author of Repurposed Rising.
Coming Back to yourself.
And if you've listened to my other podcast, Conversations with Rich Bennett, you've heard Michelle on there before.
How you doing, Michelle?
Michelle Taylor:I am doing great.
Thank you for having me here today.
I'm really excited.
Rich Bennett:My.
My pleasure.
You know, the door's always open for you.
Michelle Taylor:I appreciate you.
Rich Bennett:I mean, come on.
All right, so let's go ahead and I'm just going to sit back, I'm gonna grab my baseball bat, and I'm gonna allow you to throw the pitch.
Michelle Taylor:Let's go.
We're gonna score a home run.
Rich Bennett:Oh, yeah, go for it.
Michelle Taylor:Actually, not a home run.
We're gonna score grand slam.
Rich Bennett:That's it.
There we go.
Michelle Taylor:All right, let's go.
So, hello, everyone.
My name is Michelle Taylor and Repurposed Rising.
Coming back to yourself.
This is a guided healing and self reflection journal.
This book for me is for the woman who has been holding everything together while quietly falling apart.
The woman who kept showing up even when she was exhausted.
The woman, the woman who questioned herself, doubted herself and still kept going.
And the woman who was finally ready to come back to herself.
This is for you.
What makes this book so unique is this book comes from me, comes from my story.
This book comes from what I have been through.
Everything in here has been written from my heart, mind and soul and experience.
And this book is so unique because there are things in this book that I did in my healing journey.
The prompting, the journaling, the different features, the affirmations, the quotes, the.
The personal development that I do.
The healing, everything that I have been through.
This book is all of that to be able to help.
Rich Bennett:But short of a memoir, yes, it's.
Michelle Taylor:Not a memoir, but it's more of a guided healing journey.
A guided healing.
Rich Bennett:Explain the title.
Michelle Taylor:Repurpose and Self Reflection Journey.
Rich Bennett:What is Repurposed Rising?
Because it's more than just a book, right?
Michelle Taylor:So Repurposed Rising came as a result of everything I have been through and the healing that I've been through.
And Repurposed Rising, the logo is a lotus with a woman rising out of that lotus.
And that logo for me, was created many years ago, before I even started this journey.
And that's another whole story.
But a lotus can grow in the ugliest of things, mud and whatever, and become the most beautiful flower.
And the woman rising up through that lotus is her overcoming everything she has been through and rising above all of that to repurpose all of her hurt, pain, trauma, neglect, abuse, rejection, abandonment, whatever that is, for the good of others.
So that's what Repurposed Rising is for me.
Rich Bennett:Okay, now before you read an excerpt from the.
From the book, because I mentioned how you're on the other podcast and we talked about Repurposed Rise.
Michelle Taylor:Yes.
Rich Bennett:And since you were on the podcast, you have been extremely busy with Repurposed Rising.
Tell everybody what you've been doing.
So even Wendy's like, you remember Wendy?
Wendy's like, oh, my God.
Michelle came, and I think you did a vision board or something with the ladies at Rage.
Michelle Taylor:So I do vision board workshops.
I also have kind of renamed them vision board workshops.
People think of a vision board of what you're gonna do at the beginning of the year.
I'm gonna create my vision for what I want, almost like setting resolutions.
But these are visuals.
So a vision board workshop is what it is, and I've renamed that a clarity and intentions workshop for other groups, because I do workshops for women in addiction, men in addiction, for recovery, houses.
These workshops are not something that just needs to be done at the beginning of the year.
They could be done at any time.
You can do them for corporations.
You can do them for so many different aspects of clarity and intentions.
And what is your clarification in life?
What are your intentions?
Purposely looking at photos and you're really in the moment of really sitting down with a group of individuals who are all wanting to do the same thing, and me guiding you through that.
Of what are your visions?
What is your clarification?
What are your intentions?
And having those photos, those quotes, whatever it is, on that board and seeing that board on a daily basis, because that's the big thing.
You really need to keep that present and in front of you all the time.
Rich Bennett:Yes.
Michelle Taylor:Don't work on that board and go home and put it in a closet.
Don't stick it, you know, behind a cabinet.
It really, really see it every day.
Yes.
It really, really resonates and it really will work on what you want for your life.
Rich Bennett:Good.
Michelle Taylor:So I've been doing that.
I've been coaching one on one.
I've been mentoring.
I have been working on a lot of.
A lot of other different things.
Speaking engagements, different things like that you've.
Rich Bennett:Been keeping busy and even getting on other podcasts and other podcasts.
Michelle Taylor:Yes.
Rich Bennett:So you listen.
I said we told you, get on other podcasts.
Those of you listening that have been on any of my podcasts, and I tell you, you know, another podcast.
See, Michelle's a good example.
Michelle Taylor:Thank you.
Rich Bennett:All right, go.
Go ahead and read the excerpt you have for us today.
Michelle Taylor:Okay, so this is a note for me.
There was a time in my life when I didn't realize I had lost myself.
I thought I was doing everything right, showing up, giving, loving, holding it all together.
But in the process, I was abandoning myself.
This journal was created from that place.
Not from perfection, not from having it all figured out, but from doing the work, sitting in the truth, and learning how to come back to myself.
If you're here, you are not broken.
You are becoming someone.
Take your time with this.
Be honest with yourself.
Always give yourself grace.
This book is going to be your space.
And this is where your journey back to yourself begins.
I do have a how to use this journal page, which is important.
So there's no right way to do this.
Some days you may write a lot.
Some days you may not know what to say.
You just have to show up for yourself.
Be honest, be open, and be gentle.
You don't have to rush the process.
This is about connect or this is about reconnecting with you, your inner child.
A big part of this book is going to that place, your inner child, which a lot of people are not aware of what the inner child is, and I wasn't either at the time.
So there is a lot in here about that.
There are parts of you that you are still carrying, things that you were never meant to hold.
Your younger version of you that just wanted to feel safe, seen and loved.
As you move through this journal, be mindful of those parts.
Speak to her gently.
Listen to her honestly.
She is not broken.
She is waiting for you.
And I know that I speak on the she in here or her, but this really could be for men, too.
Learning the inner child, that's a lot.
And until I went through that process myself, healing the inner child, I would not be where I am today, because that was life saving for me.
So before you begin, take a moment.
Breathe.
You don't need to rush into this.
This isn't about doing it perfectly.
It's not about having the right words.
It's about being honest with yourself, with your thoughts and with your feelings, with the parts of you that you may have been avoiding.
Some of what comes up may feel heavy.
Some of it may feel freeing.
Let it this book is going to be a safe place for you.
There's nothing you need to prove, nothing you need to get right.
Just show up.
That is enough.
This is where you meet yourself again.
So the journey begins.
You're here for a reason.
Not by accident, not by chance.
Something in you is ready, ready to see things differently, feel things differently.
This isn't about becoming someone new.
This is about remembering who you are.
One day at a time, one truth at a time.
The most important part is to recognize, becoming aware of what you've been carrying.
You can't change what you don't see.
This is where you begin to notice patterns, feelings, moments that shaped us.
You're not here to judge them, not to fix them, just to see them honestly, gently and without rushing past them.
Awareness is where your healing begins.
So there's a four part process that I coach on for your inner child healing.
And part of that process is in this journal.
And I will only go through the recognize page because I don't want to give everything away.
But those four parts are recognizing.
Recognizing what those hurt, pain, trauma, neglect, abuse, rejection, abandonment, recognizing what all of those things are.
Then you have to address them.
From addressing them, you go to releasing them and then you have to forgive.
So this journal for me is so meaningful from my heart, my mind and my soul.
And it came from true, genuine everything within me that I've been through.
The prompting in here.
There are sections in here.
A moment with me, a moment with you, there are closing sections, there are days in here to reflect on just a lot of good stuff and the affirmations and the quotes that have been really important to me and have resonated with me and that I have shared with others and helped along the way as well.
Rich Bennett:So this is more than a journal, I would say it's a.
A guidebook, a journal, and almost like a daily devotional, I guess you could say.
Michelle Taylor:It could be, it could be all of those things.
Rich Bennett:And what I love about the parts that you read there, what I love about that is you're telling people how to use the journal.
Because a lot of people will pick up journals and don't know how to journal.
They don't know the first thing to write down well.
Michelle Taylor:And there are a lot of journals that just have lines in them.
Rich Bennett:Yeah, it's a composition book.
Michelle Taylor:Yeah, they just have lines in them.
So the first prompt is, when was the first time you remember feeling unseen?
So this is gonna really.
Yes.
And it's gonna really take you to a place of thinking back.
Wow, you're in a child.
Yes.
When was the first time?
And I think, as I wrote this book, Some of the prompting and different things, you're going to reflect on recognizing what the first time was.
You felt unseen.
And you may be in a relationship now, 20, 30 years later, and still feeling unseen.
Just because you're in a relationship doesn't mean you're being fulfilled in that you may be unseen, you may be unheard, you may be unloved.
And it's as a result of what we are holding onto and have not worked through and healed through from our inner child stuff that that keeps us where we are later in life and some of the choices we make in the relationships that we have later in life because of those things.
So I really hope that this book helps so many people.
I hope that it really resonates and that you really, really take the time when you're doing the prompting and the journaling that you're really reflecting on what your inner healing needs.
Rich Bennett:This is a tough question, because I don't want to know what's next for Michelle.
I want to know what is next for Michelle as an author.
Michelle Taylor:So what's next for Michelle as an author?
Gosh, you know, going through this journey, I meditate, I journal myself, I pray.
And God has shown me so much of what's coming.
He has given me visuals without even doing my vision board.
And I write them down as I pray and I meditate.
I see things I do and am currently working on connecting with a lot of other women locally and expanding that out of local.
I want to hear your story.
And I'm working on something to share that.
Rich Bennett:Nice.
Michelle Taylor:So I need to get that out there.
And that will be soon.
Yeah, one step at a time.
So, yeah, I have a lot of good things coming.
I'm working on my own memoir, and that's actually been.
I've been working on that for probably two years.
I launched Unstoppable this June will be three years.
So I've been working on my memoir.
Three years.
I know.
I can't believe it's been three years already.
And I go back and look at so many different things to change and add.
It can't be an encyclopedia.
It Just needs to be a memoir so that I should have finished in the next six months.
So.
Rich Bennett:Well, I was gonna say make sure before you publish it, have other people like, what do you call it, ARCs or advanced reader copies sent to people, you know, a lot of people that are around here that will read it for you and give you an honest critique, which is something I think a lot of writers miss out on.
Michelle Taylor:Yes.
Rich Bennett:You gotta have people read it and critique it so you know what to change or what to add or what to delete.
Michelle Taylor:Correct.
Rich Bennett:Now, something very important.
Where can people purchase the book and follow you?
Michelle Taylor:So right now people can follow me on.
I am on social media, TikTok, all social media.
Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat.
I do have my own YouTube channel, repurposed rising.
And to purchase my book right now it is on Amazon.
You can purchase it there or get in touch with me personally.
I can share my phone number, email address.
-:My email is repurposed risingmail.com or you can reach me on any of my social medias Repurposed Rising.
Rich Bennett:And make sure you follow her on Amazon as well because then when her memoir and other books come out that she has written, you'll be notified as well.

Oh, would you like to put it in your shopping cart?
Michelle Taylor:Yeah, I love it.
